With Billy Slater set to miss the start of the NRL season the question of where Cameron Munster will play has been thrust into the spotlight.

Much of the talk over summer has been the fact Slater’s return would see Munster shift to the vacant five-eighth position.

However with Slater still several weeks away, Munster may be required to return to the No.1 jersey he has occupied so incredibly well over the past two seasons.

“Cameron has trained mostly in the halves during the pre-season so to put him back there now would be a pretty big call,” coach Craig Bellamy said.

“Having said that we’ve just got to do what we think is best for the team and as I said I doubt Billy is going to play next week.

“We will give that a little bit of thought and I think by Monday or Tuesday we will know what we are doing and go from there.

“The guys who are in consideration have all done plenty of training with the team so I don’t think it is going to be a really big situation for us to be quite honest.”

Young Tonumaipea could be the likely one to assume the fullback duties for Round 1, given the Victorian played the position in both of Storm’s trial matches with Munster playing at five-eighth.

Storm kick-off their season against the Bulldogs at Belmore, meaning there is certainly plenty of the Melbourne coaching staff to ponder over the next seven days.
