It takes a lot to slow Dale Finucane down.

A knee injury before Christmas was not a welcome hurdle during the pre-season but in true Finucane-fashion he has not jumped the hurdle, he has pushed straight through it.

The 25-year-old is a month into his rehab and all signs are positive at this stage.

“It is coming along pretty well, it was just a mishap that happened before Christmas and I needed an operation a few days later,” Finucane said.

“It is tracking quite well though, it is four weeks now since I had the operation and I started running (on Thursday).

“You’ve got to do rehab as if it was a normal training session. Make sure you are doing all your rehab work, pool work and anything the physios give you.”

With the football fast approaching, Finucane has a goal in find he is working towards ahead of Storm’s NRL season opener on March 3.

“Obviously I will miss the Nines and probably that (Sunshine Coast) trial match,” Finucane said.

“I’ll be aiming to get into that last trial match against the Bulldogs down in Hobart which will put me in good stead heading into Round 1.”
