With the rugby league world being sent into a frenzy during finals time it is about time someone called for a little bit of balance.
Melbourne Storm head coach Craig Bellamy fronted his weekly media conference and was asked about the team’s defensive play that appeared in media outlets in Sydney and Queensland.
“I don’t know how many times we heard the critical part of the story but when we got a little bit of support it just got lost,” Bellamy said.
“All I was trying to do was add a little bit of balance (in Friday’s Herald Sun piece)… The NRL cleared us, they cleared us twice.
“The Cowboys asked them to check it twice, they checked it twice and they had no problem. Ethan Lowe, he’s got no problem with it, but that gets buried.
“It is the same song as last year and the year before… just a different voice singing the song.”

Bellamy believed his players deserved to be paid a bit more respect for their hard work this season.
“I do get a little bit frustrated for my players, at the end of the day they are out there working really hard. We were the best defensive side this year, that takes a lot of hard work,” Bellamy said.
“All year no one has had a complaint. As soon as September comes let’s get that song out again, we haven’t played it all year but we’ll get a different voice to sing it and we’ll play it again.
“I think my players deserve a little bit better than that.”
