The Thunderbolts will be looking to continue their best month of football of the season when they take on the Roosters this Saturday at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

Storm’s Under-20s will be looking to make it four straight wins as they look to keep in the race for a spot in the NYC finals.

Be at AAMI Park when we take on the Roosters, Saturday 23 July, 7:30pm.

The wins have been just-reward for a playing group that has worked hard all year and is now starting to see the benefits.

“It doesn’t come as any surprise when I say it has been our best month of football of the year,” Thunderbolts coach Eric Smith said.

“Last weekend to get that last-gasp victory against the Knights, especially when we’ve had that happen to us this season, it was great we were able to grind it out.

“Definitely really proud of the effort that all players in the squad have been putting in over the last month. The test really comes in the next couple of weeks when we play some quality sides.”

It begins this week when they take on a Sydney team lead by five-eighth Jackson Hastings who already boasts 32 games of NRL experience.

The Thunderbolts will have to continue their strong efforts defensively to maintain their winning run.

“We are high on confidence at the moment which is really good but there are still plenty of areas which the guys need to keep working on,” Smith said.

“The most pleasing thing has definitely been our effort and change in attitude in regards to our defensive displays.”

The chance to play at home is once again an opportunity the young side is relishing.

“We love to be waking up, not having to travel and getting to play on the Sunshine Coast,” Smith said.

“It is always pretty good weather up here and pretty good conditions to be playing in.

“I know that the local community and local contingency of players we have in our squad really love playing in front of their friends and family.

“We are hoping we will get a really good turn out which we have been getting to our home games.”

Storm Queensland-based members will be given free entry into Sunshine Coast Stadium to see the Thunderbolts in action.
