Improved ball control will be the focus for Craig Bellamy and Melbourne Storm moving into next weekend's trial against Canterbury-Bankstown.

"I thought the Tigers handled it a lot btter with their ball control," Bellamy said following the trial.

"They controlled theball really well and we didn't. We made a lot of errors coming out of our own half, that hurt us a bit."

There were aspects of Storm's performance which pleased Bellamy, including the defensive effort shown by the young side.

"There was a lot of effort defensivley - I thought we aimed up pretty well there," Bellamy said.

"We had some new guys in there and they acquited themselves pretty well.

"We'll need to make sure we control that ball a little bit better next trial."
