Storm has advanced to the Quarter-Finals of the 2016 Auckland Nines despite losing their final pool game to the Sydney Roosters.

Melbourne fell to the Roosters 26-7 after a four-try second half from Trent Robinson’s side.

Yet another Nines 40/20 from Blake Green early in the contest allowed Melbourne to create an early attacking opportunity however Melbourne were unable to capitalize.

The Roosters, who came into the contest without a win opened the scoring through Latrell Mitchell and entered the half time break with a 7-0 advantage.

Wasting no time in the second stanza, Green proved influential again inside the first minute after the break, this time pouncing on an error to help Richie Kennar level the scores at 7-7.

From there, the Roosters responded quickly and didn’t look back, refusing to give Melbourne a chance. A four try avalanche with Joesph Manu, Vincent Leuluai, Connor Watson and Ian Henderson all crossing the line helped Sydney to a 26-7 victory.

As a result, Melbourne finish second in the Waiheke Pool and will play in Quarter Final 2 at 12:55pm (Melbourne time).
