Storm forward Ryan Hinchcliffe says Monday night will be a proud moment for him when he becomes just the ninth player to reach 150 Storm games.

Hinchcliffe and Melbourne will open the 2015 season against St. George Illawarra on Monday night in Kogarah ironically against the same opposition he made his Storm debut against in 2009.

"It's something that I'm very proud of," Hinchcliffe said.

"It's probably something I'll look back on when I finish but at the moment my focus is purely on the Dragons on Monday night."

Reflecting on those early days in Melbourne, Hinchcliffe paid tribute to long-time coach Craig Bellamy for providing him with the chance all those years ago.

"At that time I was just a young kid looking for an opportunity," Hinchcliffe said.

"Craig has done a lot for me, I certainly owe him a lot in regards to my career.

"He's given me my opportunity and showed me the way, I'll be forever grateful to him for that."
