Junior Rep Report: Round 9

Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side have been defeated 38-8 by the Sydney Roosters in Round 9 of the Jersey Flegg competition.

In an afternoon where things didn't seem to fall Storm's way, the visitors jumped out of the gates to gain a commanding 20-0 lead at the break before Storm were able to add two tries late in the piece.

After both sides exchanged sets inside the opening 10 minutes, the Roosters opened the scoring through Ethan Roberts before Benjamin Taylor doubled their advantage a few minutes later.

The Roosters would add on a further five tries before Storm found some success in the 64th and 67th minute.

Keagan Russell-Smith was in the right place at the right time to pick up the scraps from Stanley Huen’s crossfield kick before the young half showed a nice double-pump and cut-out pass for Bradley Avery to score in the corner a few minutes later.

Storm will look to bounce back in Round 10 when they host the Parramatta Eels at AAMI Park as the curtain raiser for the NRL match between Storm and the Sharks.
