After biding his time in 2016, this season saw Joe Stimson receive his first taste of NRL action.

The hard-working forward received his maiden Storm jersey in Round 2 against the Warriors and went on to play a total of 13 games throughout Melbourne’s premiership-winning season.

Stimson proved to be a tough competitor generating two tackle breaks per game, more than any other Storm second rower. The 21-year-old provided one of the highlights of the season when he scored the game-winning try against the Roosters at AAMI Park in Round 23.

His year was split between playing in the NRL and reserve grade where he put in consistent performances for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland Cup.

The return of Tohu Harris ultimately meant Stimson was made to forgo his position in the side at the back end of the season, however with that spot once again vacant the 21-year-old has plenty of motivation to throw everything into the upcoming pre-season and reclaim his place in the team.
