Cameron Smith has become the first player in the history of the game to kick 1,000 premiership goals.
The Storm skipper reached the remarkable milestone when he slotted one through the sticks in the 67th minute of the game.
Smith has kicked his 1,000 goals at a goal kicking accuracy for 74 per cent.
“I’d like to know how many I’ve kicked at training to get to that in a game,” Smith said.
“It is quite surreal to be able to do that. To kick 1,000 goals, especially as a forward, you wouldn’t have thought that would have happened.”
“I am very grateful that I’ve been able to play for so long, in a successful organisation, with great players who give me the opportunity to kick goals.”
Earlier this year he eclipsed Jason Taylor’s record for most goals kicked in premiership rugby league when he landed goal number 943 in the Storm’s win over St George Illawarra back in Round 9.
Smith is also the highest scoring forward in NRL history with his 2,163 career points sitting behind only Hazem El Masri (2,418) and Andrew Johns (2,176) for the most all-time.
