The Falcons have booked their place in the Intrust Super Cup Grand Final after a runaway 40-14 win over the Redcliffe Dolphins.

A 10-point lead in the first half was followed by four unanswered tries after the break to put the result well beyond doubt.

All seven Falcons tries came from Storm players with Justin Olam, Ryley Jacks and Joe Stimson securing doubles, while Scott Drinkwater also found his way over the line.

Stimson (18 runs, 181 metres) and Tui Kamikamica (17 runs, 173 metres) led the way up the middle while Jacks steered Sunshine Coast around the park with clever game management.

Brandon Smith was also impressive in his second game back from injury, finishing with a game-high 39 tackles.

A total of eight Storm players were part of the win and their togetherness not only in this game but in recent weeks has proved to be a real shining light in the back end of the season.

“Individually they are going really well but the thing that stands out is how hard they are working for each other,” Storm development coach Aaron Bellamy said.

“They have a really tight click here at the moment. If one of them makes an error they are there to back each other up, that is what is standing out.”

Now they will get the opportunity to step onto the big stage when they run out against the PNG Hunters in Sunday’s Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium.

For a group of players hungry to take the next step into the NRL, the experience of playing in a premiership decider will be invaluable.

“It is really good for their development,” Bellamy said.

“It is going to be a really good experience for them, they should enjoy the week.

“They have not just gone up there to fill the numbers, they have gone up there and probably improved their game so there are good signs.”
