What is the best way to approach a week off during the finals?

It is the question every sporting Club in the world wishes they had an answer to.

As he prepares his side for their ninth Preliminary Final in 12 years, Craig Bellamy has more experience than most on how to handle this stage of the season.

Storm have built their preparations for next Friday’s contest around what they have learned over the years.

“We’ve put a lot of thought into our program this week, next week is going to be a normal week for us,” Bellamy said.

“We have asked our senior players for their opinion as well so you’ve got to go on a little bit of the feeling of the group.

“We’ve been here a few times before so you’d like to think we’ve got a pretty good feel for it so hopefully we will get it right next week.”

The danger with a week off is that there is a chance a team’s momentum could grind to a halt.

There is a chance that could ring true for a Storm side currently on an eight-game winning streak but the men in purple are doing everything possible to make sure that will not be the case.

“It can go either way without a doubt, that has been proven over the years,” Bellamy said.

‘Sometimes if you do have the week off it can pull your momentum up and the teams that play each week do get some of the momentum.

"Hopefully having that week off is going to help us freshen up a little bit and help us go a bit stronger next Friday night.”
