As they came together to celebrate their 2007 Grand Final win, Craig Bellamy has declared that team the best he has ever coached.

A luncheon was held on Friday to commemorate the 10-year anniversary since that win over the Sea Eagles.

Twelve players who played that day were in attendance, with four others to arrive in Melbourne for Sunday’s clash with Manly at AAMI Park.

Israel Folau is the only absentee due to his current commitments with the Wallabies.

Each members of that team may be a little old now but the memories of that day still remain fresh in their minds.

As for the coach, their brilliance that year will never be forgotten.

“For the time I’ve been here they have probably been the best team I have had,” Bellamy said.

“History backs that up because they won the minor premiership and then they won the major premiership, that is the first that that has been done in the Storm’s history.

“Whichever way you look at it, it is probably the best team we have ever had here and certainly during my time anyway.”

The Storm side of the current day has a long way to go to match the feats of what that ’07 side achieved.

However when asked if that was possible, Bellamy believes this 2017 group has what it takes.

“You’d like to think so, It is a young side but while it is a young side we’ve also got a few old guys too,” Bellamy said.

“There are a few characteristics that both sides have got but there is certainly a lot more experience in the 2007 side as opposed to this side.

“I think in the next few years as these younger blokes learn, hopefully the older guys can continue to play like they are playing now.

“It is basically up to them to be honest how hard they want to work and how much it means to them."
