Billy Slater will make a decision on his playing future in the next four to six weeks.

Having negotiated the hectic Origin schedule - during which he helped guide Queensland to yet another Origin series win - Slater will now take the time to weigh up whether or not he would like to play on in 2018.

Rivalry continues! Melbourne v Manly, July 30. Book now!

The 34-year-old's return to the field after almost two years out of the game has been one of the great success stories of the season.

He leads Melbourne for try assists (11) while also scoring six of his own.

That stellar form line has led to calls for Slater to continue his stellar playing career beyond this year.

Now with some time to think, he will use the next few weeks to decide what the future may hold.

“I’ll make a decision in the next month to six weeks, I just wanted to get this Origin series out of the road,” Slater told The Courier Mail.

‘‘We have the run to the finals now, we’ve put ourselves in a good position (at Melbourne), but it’s something I have to decide soon.

“If I feel like I can put my body through that again and make a difference for the Storm, I will go around one more year.

“It’s 100 per cent physical. Mentally, you could sign me up for another three or four years.

“I am as hungry as ever and still want to compete and want to continue to get better as a footballer. That hasn’t diminished. I’m 35 next year, I’ve been through a fair bit injury wise and you can tell the difference in your recovery now, so it’s 100 per cent physical.

Slater requires 10 more games to join the illustrious 300-game Club.
