Bromwich’s heroic performance

Jesse Bromwich knew he had to step up for his Club on Saturday night and he did just that.

The Kiwi prop played 78 of a possible 85 minutes and ran for 198 metres in a remarkable performance to help lead Storm to a golden point win.

Bromwich was the stand-in captain in the absence of Cameron Smith who was away on Origin duty and it was certainly a game worth of a skipper.

“He was particularly outstanding,” Craig Bellamy said.

“For a front rower to play the minutes he did and to play with the effort and energy he did was a great captain’s knock.”

After Dale Finucane went off early in the second half for a concussion test and did not return, Bromwich realised it was his time.

“I just wanted to be out there for as long as I could,” Bromwich said.

“I just wanted to win the match, being captain I lead the way for the younger fellas.

“It was really good to get a lot of minutes out tonight. It was a huge game for us, winning that in golden point so I really enjoyed it.”
