A Brodie Croft field goal in golden point as handed Storm one of its most famous wins in the history of the Club.

Missing five of their Origin stars, Melbourne defeated the Cowboys 22-14 in front of a crowd of 17,124 at AAMI Park.

19-year-old Cutis Scott scored two tries, Brandon Smith, 21, was dominant from hooker while young playmakers Croft and Cameron Munster were simply everywhere.

Having made seven changes to last week’s team, Storm took their time to find their feet as the Cowboys raced out to a 10-nil lead after 25 minutes.

From there though Melbourne worked their way back into the contest.

Brandon Smith came on and instantly broke through the Cowboys line out of dummy half.

That play swung the momentum and Storm soon had their first try of the game as the Storm future came together.

Cameron Munster passed to Brodie Croft who laid off to Curtis Scott to send the 19-year-old through for his first try in the NRL.

It was a great response from this young Storm side who went to the sheds trailing 14-12.

The Cowboys responded though through Lachlan Coote just six minutes after the restart but once again Melbourne answered emphatically with three tries in a scintillating 10 minutes.

The first try came from Brandon Smith who dove for the line from dummy half in a near replica of his maiden NRL try.

Two minutes later Croft sliced through the visitor’s line and handed off to Scott to secure his double.

The good times kept on rolling for the Storm fans as Felise Kaufusi put on some fancy footwork to score his seventh try of the season.

Just when it seemed victory was in sight the Cowboys scored a try and were then given a panalty kick to tie the game on the half-time hooter.

Enter Croft. The 19-year-old stepped up and with ice in his veins slotted the 25m field goal to seal a win Storm fans will not soon forget.
