Ryley Jacks has spoken of the confidence boost he received after signing on to remain in Melbourne for at least another season.

The emerging playmaker committed to a one-year contract extension on Tuesday, adding another positive chapter to his young Storm career.

Jacks has impressed the coaching staff from day one of pre-season training. He not only worked his way into Craig Bellamy’s Round 1 team but remained there for the first eight games of the season.

Tuesday’s announcement continued what has been a dream 2017 season for the 25-year-old.

“I’m so stoked to be staying,” Jacks said.

“This time last year I didn’t have an NRL contract at all and Melbourne Storm took a punt on me.

“It is good I can repay them, it is a pretty good feeling to get it done early on in the year.”

To have his short term future secured so early in the year has given him a strong piece of mind as he prepares to play a pivotal role during this Origin period.

“For Storm to have talks with them so early, it gives me confidence. They want me here so I am pretty stoked,” Jacks said.

“You can calm down knowing where you are going to be next year. It is a relief feeling knowing that the Storm has a lot of confidence in you.
