For a player who has had to be patient for many years, Felise Kaufusi is loving every minute of the 80 he is getting this season.

Following the off-season departure of Kevin Proctor and injury to Tohu Harris, Kaufusi is one who has stepped up and taken his opportunity in the second row.

The 24-year-old has played every minute of Storm’s first three games this season; averaging 98 metres and 35 tackles.

It is a significant step up from previous years but he would not have it any other way

“It is pretty new for me. The last two years I have been playing 20 minutes, if that. It is a big step up but it is something I’ve got to do,” Kaufusi said.

“We’ve lost players like Kevvie Proctor, which is a big loss and at the moment Tohu Harris is injured. Someone has got to do their best to fill that void and I’m liking that challenge.

“It is more taxing playing the 80 minutes as I’ve found, so just trying to get the body ready for the next week coming and being able to back that up again.”
