Storm have produced a thrilling comeback to defeat the Brisbane Broncos by two points at AAMI Park.

New recruit Josh Addo-Carr cemented his place in purple hearts with a levelling try with three minutes to play before captain fantastic Cameron Smith stepped up to kick the game-winning conversion from the sideline.

It sure was a great night to be Melbourne Proud.

Billy Slater showed he had not lost any of his magic touch after 374 days on the sidelines.

The champion fullback finished the game with an incrdible 117 metres, three tackle busts and two offloads in 60 minutes of play.

The early stages did not quite go as planned when an errant pass by the home side on 10 minutes saw James Roberts run 70 metres the other way to score under the posts.

From there Melbourne began to get adventurous, throwing the ball around at will as the momentum began to swing their way.

Their bravery was rewarded shortly after when a piece of Cameron Smith brilliance played Ryley Jacks through for the first try of his NRL career.

Storm controlled the football for the remainder of the half but were unable to make the most of it on the scoreboard.

The AAMI Park crowd were still given reason to get off their feet though on the half hour mark when Billy Slater was called off the bench to complete his comeback.

A Cameron Smith penalty edged Storm into an 8-6 half-time advantage but that faded shortly after the break when Ben Hunt sliced his was through to score.

Cameron Munster was forced from the field with 20 minutes to play due to concussion but Storm continued to served forward.

In the 68th minute they should have hit the front, only for the NRL Bunker to disallow a Will Chambers effort despite replays suggesting he had reached the line.

Melbourne would simply not be denied though and with three minutes to play deservingly had a good piece of fortune.

It came when a Jacks cut-out ball rebounded off the Broncos defence before spilling into the hands of Josh Addo-Carr who made his first try in purple colours a match-winner.

Smith then stepped up to seal the winning kick from the sidelines like only he can.
