Storm recruit Dale Finucane says he is excited about starting a new chapter of his rugby league career in Melbourne.

"It's been really good," Finucane said when asked about his first week training with his new teammates.

"I'm really looking forward to the season ahead. I'm excited to play with some of the best players in the world…there's a number of representatives here at an elite level.

"I can't wait."

The 23-year old forward said his move south to link up with Storm was motivated by the opportunity to play more minutes.

"I really enjoyed my time at Canterbury," Finucane said.

I just think it was another opportunity down here to progress my game in terms of playing longer minutes and that sort of thing.

"That's probably the biggest drive behind the move I think and hopefully I can get that opportunity down here through hard work."

Finucane, who has played 66 NRL games, missing just one since his first-grade debut in 2012 is striving for a starting position in Craig Bellamy's forward pack in the new season, alongside the likes of New Zealand internationals Jesse Bromwich, Kevin Proctor and Tohu Harris.

"I knew I was coming to a professional club and that really excites me," Finucane said.

"I definitely do want to be a starter.

"I think through hard work this pre-season that's something I'd love to achieve."
