Melbourne Storm will host a new ANZAC Day rival in 2015 with the NRL set to shift its AAMI Park clash against the New Zealand Warriors to Easter Monday.

With 2015 marking the Centenary of the ANZAC’s and after lengthy discussions with the NRL, Storm agreed to allow the Warriors to host their own ANZAC Day game in New Zealand, before it returns to AAMI Park in 2016.

In return, Storm is set to face the Warriors at home in Round 5 in an Easter Monday blockbuster.

Storm CEO Mark Evans said:

“While we are disappointed not to have the Warriors come to Melbourne on ANZAC Day in 2015, we understand the NRL’s desire to host a match in New Zealand on ANZAC Day as a part of the Centenary celebrations.”

“We look forward to hosting the Warriors on ANZAC Day in 2016 when they return.”

Adding an extra subplot to the contest, former Storm Premiership player Ryan Hoffman will be in line to make his 250th first-grade appearance, lining up for the Warriors in Round 5.

The NRL will reveal Storm’s new ANZAC Day rival for 2015 tomorrow when the full fixture for the NRL Telstra Premiership season is released.
