Melbourne Storm Coach Craig Bellamy has said his side's destiny is in their own hands ahead of Friday night's showdown with Brisbane at AAMI Park.

With the nature of the current table meaning Storm could finish anywhere between fourth and ninth, Bellamy is looking at the positives in his side's situation.

"At least we've got our destiny in our own hands, that's better than having to rely on other results," Bellamy said.

"There are a lot of games this week that will shape the eight.

"All we know is if we get the result we want, we'll live to fight another week.

"Hopefully that is the case."

The coach also said there had been no change in mentality despite the amount riding on Friday night's result.

"All our thoughts this week is our focus is on our preparation and hopefully that will lead to a good performance on Friday night," Bellamy said.

"We know we're up against a really good side, they've had a couple of really good weeks.

"It will be a tough game."
