Melbourne Storm will wear a special Close the Gap jersey in Round 23 when they host the Cronulla Sharks at AAMI Park on Saturday 16 August, 5:30pm.

Commemorating Close the Gap Round across the NRL, Storm will wear the specially designed jersey for the second time in the club's history. The jersey was last worn in Round 22, 2012 when Storm defeated the Panthers 46-6 at AAMI Park.

The logo in the middle of the jersey represents Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club. The outer circles are the broader Indigenous communities that Melbourne Storm are reaching through its various programs. The white lines represent each individuals pathway while the four colours represent the four seasons, representing diversity and change.

2014 Melbourne Storm Close the Gap jerseys are available from the Melbourne Storm Megastore.

The Yarra river flows past AAMI Park, home of the Storm, the ‘Birrarung’ has been a meeting point and lifeline for local aboriginal people for a millennia. Water represents life and as it flows through the ‘Melbourne Storm Community’ it becomes much larger, which portrays the quality of life improving.

The jersey has been designed by Lenny Briggs and Dixon Patten.
