Melbourne Storm supports the action taken by the NRL today to protect the integrity of rugby league.

Slade and Hymel have apologised to the NRL and accept the sanctions imposed.

Both players are decent young men and acknowledge they acted with naivety.

Slade was suspended for two games for betting on one game in which Storm was involved.

Hymel was also suspended for two games for betting on one NRL game prior to joining Storm for the 2014 NRL season.

Storm’s welfare staff will support the players involved. They will also continue to educate all Storm players on their responsibilities as NRL players.

As this matter is an integrity issue for the whole game, for further comment, please contact the NRL media department.

ENDS
