SG Ball and HMATTS defeated
Tuesday 26 March 2013 10:55 AM
Melbourne Storm’s SG Ball and HMATTS sides were both defeated over the weekend as Melbourne travelled north to Parramatta to take on the Eels at New Era Stadium.
Storm’s SG Ball side suffered a 20-33 loss to the third placed Eels. Despite falling behind early, Tony Adam’s side managed to wrestle back the lead during the first half before the home side fought back to gain the advantage at the main break thanks to two late tries.
The second half provided a tight contest with Melbourne getting to within three points of Parramatta during the second stanza with Ellery Tusa scoring a try and looking dangerous on the right edge. However, two late tries from Eels confined the young Melbourne side to their third loss of the season.
In the U16 competition, Ross Antoniolli’s side suffered a 6-54 loss when they travelled to Parramatta. There were some impressive individual performances with Greg Leleisiuao threatening the Eels defence all day whilst Bobby Resture impressed with his work in attack before being injured.
Ross Antoniolli will be looking for improvement from his side to finish the 2013 season on a positive note.
Next weekend both of Storm’s SG Ball and HMATTS sides return to Melbourne to take on Cronulla at Casey Fields.
