Melbourne Storm staff spent a few days in Wellington last week, getting to know the locals as part of their ongoing development programs with the Wellington Rugby League.
NRL Assistant Coaches Kevin Walters and David Kidwell, joined Recruitment Manager Paul Bunn and Academy Coach Tony Adam, putting 85 young up and coming players aged between 14 to 17 years through their paces.

The relationship and programs was established by former Storm Recruitment Manager the late Darren Bell many years ago, combining his passion for rugby league development and fondness for the style of talent this area continues to produce.
This was a huge weekend for Wellington Rugby League, with the Melbourne Storm staff actively assisting in the promotion of Rugby League in a Rugby saturated region. The exercise included a fundraising golf day, facilitating and delivering coaching clinics, trial matches and spreading the Storm brand, over a three day period.

Recruitment Manager Paul Bunn was very impressed with the amount of Melbourne Storm colours present, along with securing the signature of Sosefo Losino Apikotoa, a 16 year old front rower with loads of potential. Standing 6’ 3” tall and weighing around 114kgs he certainly has the right credentials to become a future Melbourne Storm player.
