Rugby Codes unite
Monday 14 January 2013 3:52 PM
Two rugby codes will unite on Thursday morning as Melbourne Storm and Super Rugby’s Melbourne Rebels combine in a joint training session at VISY Park.
With their respective 2013 seasons fast approaching, Storm and Rebels are both working towards their respective trial games to be played in preparation for the 2013 season. On the same weekend in February, the two clubs will play trial games in Geelong as part of preparations for their regular season matches.
The best way to support Melbourne Storm in 2013 is to Become a No Ordinary Member
In partnership with the City of Greater Geelong, Storm will face the Canberra Raiders on February 8 at Simonds Stadium in the side’s final hit-out before travelling to the UK for the World Club Challenge. At the same venue on the following evening, Saturday February 9, the Rebels will take on the Wellington Hurricanes.
The weekend will provide a great opportunity for the sports loving public of Geelong and surrounding areas to see two of Victoria’s national rugby clubs in their own backyard.
Tickets for Storm’s trial match against Canberra will go on sale to the public later this week. For those who purchase a family ticket, there is a chance to win the ‘Ultimate Family Experience’. Storm’s ‘Ultimate Family Experience’ includes the opportunity to be kitted out in Storm attire, run out on Simonds Stadium with the team, toss the coin and attend the post-match players dinner.
Visitors to Visy Park for Thursday’s training session are encouraged to take public transport, however street parking is also available on Royal Parade. With the main doors opening at 7:30am, visitors should enter through the main entrance.
