Saturday night will see two of the competition's most dynamic forwards go head-to-head at Allianz Stadium.
When Melbourne meet Sydney, Ryan Hoffman and Sonny Bill Williams will both be hoping to carry their sides to victory. Both players have a wealth of first-grade experience as well as a number of representative honours making this contest an intriguing match-up.
Hoffman is pushing strongly for NSW Origin selection thanks to his consistent early season form. His man of the match performance in last month’s City Country Origin clash has put the 29-year old firmly in the frame for selection.
On the other hand, Sonny Bill Williams was one of the biggest stories in the off-season. The Rooster forward’s comeback to first-grade NRL was much anticipated and since returning in Round 1, Williams has not missed a beat.
Like Hoffman, the 27-year old has played every game so far in 2013. He has not only been an enforcer in the Sydney defensive line but also added to their attack, scoring five tries for the season.
